Negative experience: Unfortunately I cannot give Comprende more than one star. I would give them zero if I could. The only person at Comprende I would ever willingly interact with again is Angelina. Otherwise, I hope I never have anything to do with them again. Certain members of the Comprende staff are incredibly disrepectful and dismissive. Some interactions I have had were the rudest interactions I have ever had to deal with. I was verbally attacked for raising valid concerns, and essentially gaslit by being told the issue simply didn’t exist. Completely unprofessional and borderline abusive behaviour that ultimately resulted in significant mental distress that required medical intervention. While Melissa seems nice, unfortunately there is virtually no communication. We have had countless emails go unanswered, and she often is not available to answer her phone when you try to call. We had many maintenance issues while renting with Comprende - including broken curtains we were told would be replaced before we moved in yet were still broken when we moved out (we were also initially blamed for this damage after our end-of-lease inspection and had to point out they were broken well before we moved in) . Our dryer had caused issues since we moved in and Comprende did nothing to address this. It would cause water to drip down the ceiling and walls, to the point where it would form puddles on the floor. After months of emailing about the issue, only after issuing a formal '14 day notice to remedy' did they come and look at the dryer. We were then told the dryer was ventilated fine and there were no issues, however, when we looked behind the dryer we could clearly see the vent wasn’t attached to the dryer at all and so the hot air was being blown directly into the laundry room. We had to throw out our personal belongings because of the mould from the moisture. Comprende showed no concern about this and the dryer still wasn’t fixed by the time we moved out. It had not even been inspected by a electrician or anyone with relevant expertise, just our property manager who, with all due respect, was not qualified to assess whether a dryer is functioning or not. To top it all off, when we asked to end the lease early because of all these issues, we did not receive any formal confirmation of when our lease would end. But we did find that Comprende had listed our flat on Trademe (with incorrect photos and a description that said there was a spa bath in the property when it doesn’t have a bath at all) without even telling us that the lease would be ending early. And with the dryer still not being fixed, I imagine the next set of tenants will be stuck dealing with the exact same issues. It also took almost two months to receive our bond refund, well exceeding a typical timeframe. I cannot recommend Comprende less, they seem nice but unfortunately do not reply to emails or take maintenance requests seriously. Avoid at all costs. For the record, I have never had such issues with any previous landlord or property management company. We have done nothing that could justify this kind of treatment, we have always paid rent, always replied to their emails, always taken good care of the property. It seems that all Comprende care about is getting people signed on to leases to take their money, and then ignore them when they actually need to do any work to keep the property maintained.

Fantastic experience: I had been living at the rental I was in for a couple of years when Comprende took over property management for the place. They were always respectful and friendly to deal with. Whenever we had any maintenance issues Angelina and Crystal were quick to get someone over to check and we always felt we were in good hands. I’ve had some negative experiences with property management in the past, but Comprende were always professional, fair, and friendly. As a tenant, I would have no problem renting a Comprende managed home. Really lovely people and I never felt like I was just seen as a revenue stream.

Negative experience: Would not recommend as a landlord. We found Comprende's property managers to be often rude, unresponsive and unhelpful. Some examples of issues include approving a tradie to enter the property without our knowledge while we were still in residence, misrepresenting relevant laws to us, failing to follow up with our tenants about repeated late rent and even missing that a rent payment hadn't been paid for over a month until we raised it. Generally, we felt we had to battle to get Comprende to take action for our benefit (or even to respond to us at times) and we didn't feel that our concerns were taken seriously, even if an issue was causing us detriment. We have even continued to discover issues with their management after moving to a new management company.

Fantastic experience: My partner and I enjoyed our time in our apartment very much and we will miss it. Awhina was excellent and a star throughout our stay and helped us very much along with everyone at Comprende. Keep up the excellent work

Fantastic experience: My property manager Awhina is one of the best managers I've ever had! She's professional, kind and always respond promptly for the entire tenancy period. Same as every staffs I encountered from Comprede - everyone is super sweet and professional :)

Negative experience: These are the most aggressive property managers I have had to deal with, specifically Anita Smith. They refused to wear a simple mask to keep a disabled person safe in their own home so I had to take them to the Human Rights Commission after an extremely abusive conversation where I was accused of breaching my tenancy and had an unmasked agent blow air on my face.They even told the mediator that they are not obligated to respect my disability rights and it took months to resolve this issue. After this incident, they didn't accept any requests for repairs but were happy to increase rent by 10% a year, which really didn't match the condition of the flat. They have even refused to take their shoes off in my flat and stood on my couch with boots on. When there was an issue with noise and my neighbour, I was told that I have upset a grown man by leaving a polite note asking if they can just let me know when repair work is happening. They are racist, ableist bullies and I would not recommend them to anyone. After I moved out, I got the cringiest emails about what a fabulous tenant I have been and if I can leave a review so she can get a free meal! Very glad to not deal with them anymore.

Negative experience: Saw positive reviews so thought I would take them in good faith, dealt with a few of the property team but unfortunately eventually after almost a year met melissa our property manager that was supposed to be managing our rental and a bad experience is the least I could say. Our family of 5 was unable to cook a proper meal in the kitchen due to the stove top being unsafe to operate needing replacing, for the last 6 months of our tennancy, nor was the dishwasher working to name but some of the issues that were ignored when attention was required. Melissa was very abusive and threatening to communicate with and had the recollection of a goldfish. Not all was bad, initially we dealt with Rebecca, who warm, welcoming and pleasant to communicate with, a highlight and a true superstar for the company so the 1 star is for her.

Any questions or issues were handled promptly and efficiently. We found Comprende to be very professional and easy to deal with — we’d definitely recommend renting through them.

Fantastic experience: I had a viewing this morning based in Wellington. Booking the viewing was very easy and clear. Fantastic experience: Our experience w/ Comprende as tenants was great. Maintenance issues were always dealt with in a timely manner, inspections clearly signposted etc. When we had some internal flat mate issues Anita went above and beyond, helping out with which were really outside the scope of what she's there for. It was great to be supported. 100% would rent via them again if the right property came up.

Negative experience: My property manager was Charmaine, and throughout my involvement with them, they threatened me and my other tenants, they purposely brought up things to bring us down and frequently refused to help us. This was all made worse when I moved out, where they held the bond for ransom and intemidated me and broke me down to the point I had to concede to an expense I wholeheartedly don't agree was for me to pay. I have nothing but bad things to say about Charmaine and would recommend that people avoid having them as their property manager if they can.

Sarah and her colleagues at Comprende were really easy to deal with, attended any maintenance issues promptly, communicated well, offered flexibility, and were generally helpful in the process of exiting the tenancy and refunding my bond. They were reasonable and understanding and did not seek to withhold any bond. I would happily rent through them again if the need arose.

Negative experience: I would like to share my bad experience with Emma from Comprende. My first viewing was arranged with Emma via email and confirmed, then canceled 30 mins prior the viewing without any explanation. The next day we saw a new booking times, booked for the second time and after viewing the house Emma told us that she would send the application form that evening. Nothing came through and she didn't respond to other messages either. Two days later we saw that the house was no longer available on Trademe. So totally waste of our time….

Negative experience: While I understand that mistakes happen, after reading numerous one-star reviews and hearing feedback from others, it seems that Comprende is not learning from past criticisms (more like "no comprende"). They entered my property without prior notice, which is illegal, and dismissed my valid concerns regarding a significant moisture issue inside the property. Additionally, I had to request the bond refund form, which I did not receive until a week after leaving the property. Anita's communication was not only slow and condescending but also filled with poor grammar and spelling errors. I will be avoiding this company in the future and will be sure to share my experience with others.

Fantastic experience: We've had an excellent experience with Comprende, thanks to Angelina's outstanding property management skills. As tenants, we're very happy with how she's handled everything. Whenever there are issues, she is incredibly prompt in addressing them, making the entire process stress-free. Angelina is very easy to deal with, always professional and approachable. Fantastic experience: The team at Comprende were great, and I had no issues throughout my time living in one of their properties. As someone who needed housing from the US, Comprende worked with me and I was allowed to secure my housing before my arrival in Wellington. I must say, I didn't experience any hassle EVER as compared to the property management companies. Service requests were handled professionally and in a timely manner. I truly felt valued as a customer.

Fantastic experience: Have just finished up my tenancy in one of Comprendé’s properties - I have to say that I’m astonished with our Property Manager, Angelina Tucci, and how prompt, professional and dedicated she is! She really listened and went out of her way to resolve any issues, she’s reliable and great at her job. Thank you Angelina, you were just lovely! Negative experience: Comprende were recommended to me after the purchase. Initially during sign up they were easy to deal with .. then became really difficult to reach or get hold of. I gave up on them following a few years of putting up with lack of response to my contact... rent deductions for weird jobs or work suddenly carried out was "always" my (landlords) responsibility even when there was no fault or clearly tenants responsibility. Sudden cleaning charges between tenancy i had to pay for and a tenant left to go to a job in Auckland and allowed to leave during fixed terms without compensating rent recovery (i lost 6 weeks rent)... When questioned they either didn't respond or off handedly said it was their company policy and the landlords responsibility to cover. The person recommending them confirmed they have also stopped pointing customers at them due to similar complaints and feedback ... this is my own experience only... My new property managers are amazing and professional and have both the tenants and landlord interest at heart... good luck to anyone using this crowd
