Negative experience: Moore Rentals have good systems and processes in place. Administrative tasks were handled quickly, documentation was sent promptly, and responses were generally fast. Unfortunately, where they fell short was in customer service. We found communication to be inflexible and, at times, unnecessarily confrontational. Rather than taking a practical, solution-focused approach to resolving a genuine misunderstanding, the focus was on defending their position instead of working collaboratively towards an outcome. A compromise was eventually reached, but only after a significant amount of unnecessary back-and-forth. We were left feeling that accommodating clients and finding reasonable solutions was not a priority. If you rent through Moore Rentals, I would strongly recommend ensuring every agreement and expectation is clearly documented in writing before signing. While their administration is efficient, our experience was that flexibility and customer care were lacking.

Fantastic experience: I had a very good experience with Moore Rentals. I am very happy that they rented me such a beautiful property, and throughout my tenancy they were always cooperative, understanding, and easy to deal with Any issues that came up were handled and resolved very quickly, which made the whole experience smooth and stress-free. A special mention to Maureen and Joe, who were extremely supportive throughout. They were always responsive, quick to address any concerns, and ensured that every issue was resolved without delay. Their professionalism and friendly approach really made a difference. The move-out process and final inspection were also well managed. I really appreciate all their support during my time in the property. If I get the opportunity in the future, I would definitely rent through them again. At the moment I am moving to the South Island, and unfortunately they don’t operate there, but I had already checked with them. If I come back to Tauranga, I will surely contact them again. Highly recommended!

Negative experience: Maureen seems to get along with certain people and ethnicity's! I have rented for 10 years and have ALWAYS paid my rent on time. Yes, I have old defaults and past financial struggles, but that does not make me a bad tenant or a bad person. What’s disappointing is the way some property managers look down on people the second they see or hear about old credit history. It’s like they automatically assume you’re irresponsible, dangerous, or not worthy of a chance without even getting to know you or looking at your actual rental history. Maureen spoke to me in such a degrading and judgmental way, then basically told me “no one will help you.” That comment alone was disgusting and completely unprofessional. Some property managers seriously need a reality check. Having an old default does not define someone’s character. Many people go through hardship, especially with the cost of living these days, but still work hard, raise families, and consistently pay their rent on time. I’ve also never heard of an application being declined because of the owner’s insurance company. Property managers are the ones who present applications to the owners, and ultimately the owners decide who they want in their property. This is obviously how your company works but isn't explained from other companies. A lot of it really comes down to the landlord and how they represent potential tenants. I’ve personally seen landlords go above and beyond to put in a good word for tenants, even those with defaults, and owners still give those people a chance and many of them end up being the best tenants. Sadly, some property managers just don’t seem to care enough to advocate for people fairly. What also needs to be talked about more is the discrimination many Māori families feel in the rental market. Too often people feel judged before they’ve even been given a fair chance. Whether people want to admit it or not, bias absolutely exists. People applying for homes deserve dignity, fairness, and respect not assumptions, arrogance, and humiliation from people acting like they’re above everyone else. At the end of the day, property managers are dealing with human beings, not just paperwork and credit scores. REPLYING BACK TO YOUR MESSAGE ITS VERY FRUSTRATING TGAT YOU CANNOT REPLY BACK TO COMMENTS I would like to clarify that the person I referred to in my original feedback was not someone involved in processing a formal application under the name “Jade Law.” So that is the reason why you would have no application, The interaction I was speaking about was a phone conversation I had when I contacted your office seeking advice and guidance after struggling to secure housing. At the time, I was already under significant stress and simply asked whether it was realistically worth continuing to apply given my circumstances. The way the conversation was handled made me feel dismissed, judged, and spoken down to, which is why I chose to raise a complaint about the interaction afterward. Because of that, your response focusing on whether “Jade Law” appears as an applicant in your records does not actually address the concern I raised. My feedback was about the conduct and communication during that phone call, not whether a formal tenancy application existed under a particular name. I also feel it is important to say that listing company procedures, landlord obligations, or the diversity of people you work with does not automatically invalidate someone’s personal experience of feeling unfairly judged or stereotyped during an interaction. I understand the pressures property managers face and I understand that financial history can impact applications. My concern was never about being guaranteed housing. It was about the way vulnerable people are spoken to when they are already struggling in an extremely difficult rental market. A professional response would have acknowledged the concern itself rather than attempting to discredit it through technicalities unrelated to the actual complaint.

Fantastic experience: We have been tenants with Moore rentals for about 3 years now. We have found them to be wonderful and respectful towards us. We went through some issues a while ago which Maureen helped us to sort out. It was a very stressful time for us but Maureen listened and helped us to resolve it without adding to the stress. We also had a pipe burst on us in the middle of the night and needed to shut the water off. We contacted Maureen “in the middle of the night “and without delay a plumber turned up on the Sunday morning early and sorted it immediately. We love renting from Moore Rentals and would recommend other tenants renting from them as well. They look after their tenants and there is nothing too big or small that is an issue for them.

Fantastic experience: Moore Rentals manage my rental property in Tauranga. I am based in Hungary in Europe. It's very important to me to have prompt, clear email communication because there is no room for ambiguity when you're in a different time zone 12 hours apart. Maureen is professional, efficient, highly organised and is 'on the ball' when it comes to compliance matters, i.e laws changing in New Zealand and the Healthy Homes Act.
